Like you, we put the needs of people with Parkinson’s first and prioritize the safety of our staff. While we are working hard to process gifts as quickly as possible, the response to COVID-19 is causing delays. Please rest assured that your gift has been received and that a tax receipt will be issued for the date it arrived. If it has been more than six weeks please contact us directly at donating@parkinson.ca or by phone at 800-565-3000 to inquire about the status of your donation.
For other methods of giving, please be aware of the following timelines that are developed with Canada Revenue Agency requirements for issuing charitable receipts.
Donations received by mail
Donations must be post marked by Canada Post as of December 31. A postmark date after December 31 requires us to issue a charitable tax receipt for the following year.
Donations made by telephone
Any donation made over the telephone using a credit card after 11:59 PM on December 31 Eastern Standard Time (EST) will be considered a donation for the following year.
Donations that have been couriered or hand delivered
Due to the restrictions on businesses in response to COVID-19, our office locations are not accepting in person donations across the country. If you have a gift that needs to be delivered in person, please contact us at 800-565-3000 to coordinate.
Donations must be sent with a courier date in 2020 and be received by the Parkinson Canada office in 2020 per the office operations schedule below. Any donations received after these operating dates and times will be issued a tax receipt for the following year.
Online donations
Online donations are receipted at the time the donation is made. Therefore, any donation made after 11:59 P.M. EST on December 31 will be considered a donation for the following year.
